Since 2009 we are experimenting with Lego Mindstorms in the VRlab. The robotics can communicate by Bluetooth with each other and other Bluetooth compatible devices. That allows the interaction of the robotics with WorldViz. An actual project is the control of robotics by gestures that are recognized by WorldViz.
A seeking scenario is an autonym acting recovery robotic. Test cases with multiple NXT-Operating Systems show that the NXT Mindstorms has the best result with the LeJOS Java System. In addition, several communication methods and robotics architectures are tested. This was the begin of the funding of the control of a mindstorm with drive control crawler with the aim of WorldViz Tracking and a control by WII-Mote. At the moment one part project is completed for automating environment recognition and independent progression in unknown area.
